Description:

Reverse mind mapping is a tool to use when you have an ‘information overload.’ It is called reverse mind mapping because rather than brainstorming connections and ideas stemming from one big idea, you start with many seemingly separate ideas/information and try to narrow them down into one big idea.

In order to create a reverse mind map, you begin with a large amount of information on a topic, and use this information to narrow in and determine the key concepts or ‘big ideas’

Four main steps to creating a reverse mind map involve:

  • “Tell me everything”
  • Categorize
  • Sequence
  • Big Idea
